FAIRTRADE STATUS
We are working on getting ‘Fairtrade status’ for the college which is an accreditation awarded by the Fairtrade Foundation. This is awarded on the following criteria:
1. Fairtrade foods are made available for sale in any shops/cafés/restaurants/bars in college. Where this is not possible, there is a commitment to begin to use Fairtrade foods in these establishments as soon as it becomes possible to do so
2. Fairtrade foods are served at all meetings hosted by the college authority and the SU, and are served in all university and SU management offices
3. There is a commitment to campaign for increased Fairtrade consumption in the college – campaigns and publicity – including campaigning for trade justice & Fairtrade Fortnight
4. Steering group for the college with a representative from the college authority e.g. the bursar, a JCR Committee member & a relevant college society e.g. fair-trade society.
Support for Fairtrade motions have gone through both the JCR and HCR common rooms. To see the current Fairtrade provision, click here.
